About
Twenty-five years of keeping sites up.
Lux Web Hosting is the hosting arm of Lux Digital, a New York digital agency that has been building and running web properties since the early 2000s.
Where we come from
Lux Digital has project-managed and built at the scale where downtime is a news story. Work has included the MSNBC.com transition from Microsoft to Comcast as part of NBC News Digital, building Press.NBCNews.com for election coverage, and projects for NBC Latino and TheGrio.
The same discipline goes into a five-page site for a local business. Smaller budget, same question: will this still be standing, and still be yours, in five years?
Why we started hosting
Because we kept being handed the aftermath. Sites built on a page builder that had been abandoned. Servers two major versions behind on security updates. Backups that had silently stopped running a year before anyone looked.
Building a site and then handing it to whoever is cheapest to run does not work. So we do both, on infrastructure we control, with defaults chosen because of what we have watched go wrong.
Work with us
We take on a small number of sites at a time, which is the only way the support promise means anything.
